Advocacy

The Human Rights Defense Center uses its monthly publication, Prison Legal News, as well as book publishing and distribution, public speaking, media education and outreach, litigation, and providing information to legislators and policymakers as essential tools in its advocacy efforts on behalf of the human rights of those held in U.S. detention facilities.

HRDC staff members are available as speakers at conferences, conventions, college classes and other events to discuss all aspects of the criminal justice system. HRDC's executive staff are well versed on criminal justice topics; for example, director Paul Wright is an expert on prison labor.

HRDC can also provide copies of Prison Legal News and other materials for distribution at events upon request.
